Ready to be provoked?

I'm happy to announce I've recently sold my third book to Ellora's Cave, a novel entitled Provoke Me. * insert manic squealing* Along with being the longest book I've written to date - over 80K - it's also the one closest to my heart. To be honest, I'm having a bit of trouble letting the characters go! But the good thing is the series will wrap up with a Quickie about them so I'll get to visit them once more.

For those that have read Reveal Me, Provoke Me is the next story in the Baring It All series (tentative title) and involves Kelly, Alana from Reveal Me's best friend, and Spencer. I've just finished the series proposal for the stories revolving around Kink, the voyeurism club that connects all six books I have planned. Even though a sex club plays a role in each of the stories, these are still pretty emotional books - or at least I hope so. And of course, they're pretty fun too.

Right now I'm working on Need Me, the third book in the series. This one is about Spencer's sister Marcia and her lover Tony...and his best friend Kale.

Here's a little (unedited) snippet of Provoke Me to get you going... ;)

“I’d like you to get started on that redesign of the romance section we talked about yesterday. Marcia recommends you,” Spencer said when she didn’t speak.

“You said I could do it when I got time. With the two day sale, I’ve barely had time to pee never mind artfully reshelve books.”

His benign expression registered nothing. “You redesigned the café last year, did you not?”

The bright, cheery café that got raving comments from customers on a daily basis? Oh yeah, that was her work. She’d chosen everything from the glossy sepia photos for the pale green walls right down to the glass-topped tables bearing wicker baskets of Leigh’s lemon cookies.  “Well, yes, but—“

“Your eye for design is well known around this store. Are you saying you’re incapable of fitting the redesign into your schedule?”

Even as Kelly seethed at his impervious tone, she plastered on a smile. “Never said I was incapable, Spencer. Just that it will be difficult.”

“The sale’s over today. I expect you’ll be able to start the redesign tomorrow. If that’s a problem, come see me and we’ll find a way to make room in your daily duties.”

“What if I don’t want to do it?”

She knew she sounded pouty and didn’t care. She hated that he never seemed to see her as anything but another cog in the wheel. No matter how many department redesigns she executed or innovative ideas she voiced, he never saw her as anything but his goddamn day manager.

Yeah, he’d ogled her breasts for all of two seconds. He’d also given her a couple hot looks. But then he’d gone right back to business as usual.

“I think you know the answer to that question, Ms. Crossman. And I don’t appreciate being baited.” He slipped her folder into a drawer, a succinct dismissal.

Get out of my sight.

Before the guy she’d so stupidly lusted after for years banged any more nails into her coffin of shame, she got the hell out of his office.

And one more announcement before I go...the winner of a pdf ebook of Lynne Roberts' First Date is greenduckie13! Congratulations! I'll be sending your prize out to you ASAP.

It's here! (Just about...)

Tomorrow, January 19th, is the release day for Reveal Me at Ellora's Cave! I'm super excited about this story for a lot of reasons, especially since I hope it's the beginning to a new series for me. I've already submitted book 2, Provoke Me, and books 3 and 4 are being written (along with about five other WIPs!) If voyeurism, hot sex and tons of emotion are your things, hopefully you won't be disappointed! I'd love to hear either way.

Interested? An excerpt is on Ellora's Cave's site. And Reveal Me's a short and sexy bargain at $2.49. ;)

I hope to start checking out all your blogs again soon...a lot going on and I'm behind as usual but I'm trying very hard to get caught up so I can visit with all of you. Have a great week!

Reveal Me has a release date!

Reveal Me will release January 19, 2011 from Ellora's Cave and I'm really excited for a lot of reasons. I love these characters, especially Carter who's a bit of a nerd. Which to me equals hot. I love men with brains and Carter definitely qualifies. Check out the blurb and excerpt HERE.

Another reason I'm excited is that Reveal Me will hopefully be my first book in a new series I'm writing for EC, centered around a voyeurism club located in fictional Ely, Maryland. While Kink serves as a catalyst for the couples in each book to get together, or helps facilitate their relationships in one way or another, the stories are definitely pretty romantic. At least I think so.

I just submitted Provoke Me last week to my editor and it was definitely a process to get the book ready for submission, But I love Kelly and Spencer and wanted to make sure they got the story they deserve. Hopefully I did that. Now to wait for the final verdict. :)

The other reason Reveal Me's release is exciting to me is that it's the shortest story I've ever written thus far. I'm a bit wordy so it was tough staying to 15K! And Provoke Me, oddly enough, is the longest story I've ever written and topped out at 81K. So it's been a year of trying new things, that's for sure.

I also recently received an absolutely gorgeous cover for Insatiable, created by the amazing Valerie Tibbs, which will be releasing in early 2011 from Loose Id. I'll show that off in my next post.

Happy New Year! I hope 2011 brings you everything you've ever wished for!

Late 2010 Recap

I haven't posted in over a month, but I've had good reasons! I've been knee-deep in edits on two upcoming releases: Reveal Me, hopefully coming in early 2011 to Ellora's Cave, and Insatiable, coming to Loose Id in early 2011 as well. Both are contemporary erotic m/f. Reveal Me's short, barely 15K, while Insatiable is 60K after first round edits. First round edits are out the door on both stories so I'm hoping to have more info on release dates, etc. soon.

I've also finished a ms since I posted last. Provoke Me ended up close to 90K, but thanks to my awesome CPs' help, has already been whittled down a bit closer to 80K. I'm still polishing this one for submission to Ellora's Cave.

AND I'm working on a new story, tentatively titled Watch Me (Reveal Me, Provoke Me, and Watch Me are all part of one series which will ultimately include one more story, tentatively titled Need Me, and a free read. Or at least that's the plan right now.)

I love working on new stories. Love it! That first rush of anticipation, the possibilities, getting to know new characters, making up playlists...it's just awesome. Good thing I'm so excited about the initial stages because my process slows down hugely at the end. That's my mulling time to make sure the story hangs together and I tend to mull a LOT.

In other news, we got almost 4 feet of snow here in my section of NY in under 4 days time. So it's definitely going to be a white Christmas.

One of my many goals for 2011 is to blog at least once a week. So I'm going to try to make that happen.

And did you notice my spiffy new blog design? The awesome Natalie Dae redesigned it for me...and I adore it! I went back to my original tagline "What's More Dangerous Than Falling In Love?" which makes sense as I branch out, hopefully, into new genres. Now I just need to update my website.

Happy holidays...and do what I love to do most on a cold day, go read a good book!

Look at my pretty!

What do you think? I love me some sexy man back, so no complaints here. ;) Hoping to start edits on this one soon, and then hopefully get a release date! I'm already working on two of the next three books in the series, about to complete one then move on to the last. Did that sentence even make any sense? LOL I blame NaNoWriMo, but hey, at least I've written 8400 words so far this week because of it!

Happy Friday!

Lots O'News...and new contract!

And I guarantee I'm going to forget some of it, because, well, my memory ain't what it used to be!

I've been away from blogging/commenting in general for a while, mainly because I've been trying to refill the well. I was pretty exhausted and needed a little break. But I'm back! I have lots of stuff to mention then I want to get caught up with all of you.

First and foremost...the writing news! Personal Research has a release date! September 17th at Ellora's Cave. The amazing Pearl featured Personal Research as one of the books on her To Be Bought list, if you'd like to check it out here.

Not only that, I accepted a contract for a new Quickie at EC entitled Reveal Me, which is book one of a planned series of four connected stories.

Super excited about both my EC releases and about what I have in the works, which is book 2 of that series, Provoke Me, and a story I've been planning to sub to Samhain since last winter. The time has almost come! So hopefully I'll be able to say I subbed two more stories soon...along with getting back to the third and final Hunk Du Jour story at The Wild Rose Press, Giving It Up. Lots to do but it's all good.

I also got a new computer! I can't say how happy this makes me. Lovin' the 23" inch monitor and the speed. My old PC had seen better days and I finally went for a new Dell tower. So far it's been great. No uptick in my productivity as yet, but then I'm still in the courting stages with my new machine. *pets the screen*

Along with all the other stuff...I now have a website: www.cariquinn.com if you'd like to check it out. I'll be changing things as I go along but at least it's a start. And it has a moon on the homepage, which is one of my symbols. Love all things moon-related.

I've gotten several really nice reviews for Ex Appeal recently but I'll save those for another post. This one's dense enough! Guess I need to stop by more frequently, huh?

I'm way behind on reading everyone else's blogs and have several projects to critique for friends, which I will be doing this week and next. I'm on vacation from the day job starting this weekend and I need that time to get caught up!

Off to see what you've all been up to since I've been away...
