Finding Balance...

Not me, mind you, because I have NO balance at the moment. In the last 48 hours, I've written close to 10K words. In that time, I also worked a day and a half at the day job.

But the good news is I finished the first draft of my short! And tonight, I started my UF, Damned. FINALLY!

But I'm exhausted. Unconsciousness sounds like heaven to me now, but when I get this jazzed to write, I can't sleep. Insomnia has become the norm for me too often lately, and I need to do something about that. Getting some exercise and reaching for water and fruit over coffee and candy would help big-time, I think. Learning that writing is a marathon not a sprint couldn't hurt, either. ;)

What about you? What do you do to restore your balance?

Oh, and please check back in next Monday, May 18th when my marvelous CP, Tara Leigh Coons, is in the hot seat. I'll be asking her about fan fiction, critiquing, and her upcoming paranormal series...and she just may have a prize to give away, too! Maybe. ;)

10K in 48 hours? Sheesh! That's freaking awesome but it sounds mentally exhausting! As for the insomnia, I've got it chronically. I take Benadryl every night. Bonus? It helps my allergies! Talk to you soon missy!

Wow, I'm in awe of the 10K. I'm a slow but steady writer and do 2K most days.

I think it's important to keep balance. I try to write at a consistent pace and sometimes work on more than one project at a time. This helps me feel as if I'm being productive on days when I'm having trouble with my main project. I really find that exercise helps me. I try to walk every day and also cycle. Exercise definitely makes me sleep better.

That's a great number, Cari! But I do understand. If you get jazzed up, it can take a toll on you. I usually don't do sprint writing, but I have in the past. The best things for me to do is exercise. And try eating some fruit...

Hey Cari. Good question. I think the important thing is to relax and not stress, try to take a step back. I know that sometimes I feel overwhelmed with writing deadlines and the stuff I need to get done around the house, but when I just take a deep breath...have a glass of red wine....things seem somehow better! kudos on the word count...wish I could borrow that 10k for my book!

I think you've officially beaten my 25K in 5 days. It's about the same amount in 48 hours, but I don't have a day job.

Great job!

Balance? What's that?

Yay on completing the first draft of your short! 10k in 48 hours is amazing!!! When I overdose on writing I need to catch up on sleep - my eyes feel like they're going to drop out of my skull. And yes, water and fruit over coffee and chocolate is good and if you manage how to do it please let me know the secret!!!

Congratulations on finishing! And I'm with everyone else. Balance? What? Is there such a thing? Do people actually achieve that?

Congrats on the productivity!

I find balance in family, making sure I make time for spending time with family/friends, even when it takes time away from writing, and time for things like gardening and sewing... some days I don't go near the computer or writing... it helps keep things balanced, mostly, though it can go the other way, and I end up spending so much time on the other things I have to make my way back to writing! LOL
